Do you take time to do something for yourself every day?
I learnt through doing an intensive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) program the importance of daily self-nurture, each day we were to set our own homework, one part of this was planning a self-nurture activity. It is so important for your health and happiness that you take some time each day to do something that makes you feel good, something that feeds your soul and leaves you feeling happy and positive.
No matter how busy you think you are, there is always enough time to fit in some self-nurture, it could be before you go to work, after you get home from the gym, after dinner, before you go to bed, or after putting your kids to bed for the night, whatever works for you.
I have noticed how big a difference there is in my health and happiness when I do and don’t make time to nurture myself every day, I feel more stressed, more rushed, less grounded, and overwhelmed.
This is a small list of my go-to self-nurture activities that always leave me feeling loved and happy:
· Light a candle
· Take a bubble bath
· Make yourself a special drink
· Buy yourself some flowers
· Take yourself out on a date
· Pamper session - at home or at a salon
· Go for a walk or bike ride
· Have a nap
· Go to bed early
· Cook your favourite meal
· Put some music on and dance around
· Goal setting and planning
· Listening to a podcast
· Watching my favourite Youtubers
I want to challenge you to take at least five minutes every day to do something for yourself, so that you too can learn first-hand the power of self-nurture. Let me know in the comments below the changes that you noticed during this one week of celebrating yourself.
